Taste Profile

This ceremonial-grade matcha has a naturally deep and slightly sweet flavor, without bitterness and without the use of any sweeteners, colourants or additives.

Its exceptionally vibrant green colour comes purely from careful cultivation and early harvesting, not from enhancements.

Origin

Our matcha is sourced directly from a family-run farm in Uji, Japan, a farm that has been cultivating and crafting matcha for more than 150 years. Every step, from growing and shading to harvesting and stone-milling, is done with the same traditional expertise passed down through generations.

Why people choose MOMO?

In a crowded market of dubious powders and hidden additives, we choose a different path.

Our matcha is sourced directly from small, family-run tea farms in Japan, without mass production and without middlemen.

These farms use traditional methods, selecting only first-harvest leaves and stone-grinding them into true ceremonial grade matcha.

There are no fillers, no additives and no shortcuts. Just 100 percent pure matcha, crafted with care for an authentic tea experience.

Ingredients

100% pure ceremonial-grade matcha (stone-ground green tea leaves).

Naturally contains caffeine, L-theanine, chlorophyll, amino acids, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin D, and other trace minerals.

How to prepare?

  1. Pour hot water into your matcha bowl and over the bamboo whisk to warm and soften them. Then pour the water out and dry the bowl thoroughly.
  2. Use a fine sieve to sift 1–2 grams of matcha powder into the bowl. This helps prevent clumps and ensures a smooth texture.
  3. Pour in about 60–70 ml of water heated to around 70°C (not boiling). Too hot and it may ruin the flavor.
  4. Using your bamboo whisk, whisk the matcha briskly in an “M” or “W” motion until a frothy, creamy foam appears on top.
  5. Enjoy it on its own, or mix it with your favorite milk, juice, or any drink you love — hot or cold. Matcha is as versatile as you make it.

How to store?

Keep your matcha in an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. For optimal freshness, store it in the fridge after opening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is your matcha greener and smoother than other brands?

Because we only use young tea leaves from the first harvest (first flush), stone-ground straight into powder. No blends, no fillers, no shortcuts.

What’s the difference between your matcha and cheaper alternatives?

Most cheap matcha is culinary grade — bitter, dull in color, and often sourced from China. Ours is pure, smooth, and vibrant — crafted for quality and taste, not just price.

What does “ceremonial” actually mean when it comes to matcha?

The word “ceremonial” is often used as a marketing term, especially outside Japan, so we understand that it can feel a bit overused.

In Japan, though, the term does have genuine meaning. “Ceremonial” refers to matcha that is truly suitable for traditional tea ceremonies: bright in color, smooth in texture, rich in umami, and made from the youngest, most delicate tea leaves.

So while the term can be confusing in the West, we use it because it reflects the real standards and traditions followed by the family-run farm in Uji where our matcha is produced.

Where is your matcha from?

Our matcha is sourced from two small, family-run tea farms in Uji and Aichi, Japan. These farms avoid mass production and grow their tea using traditional methods without fillers or shortcuts. The result is pure, ceremonial-grade matcha crafted with genuine care and generations of experience.

What makes your matcha’s price reflect its quality?

We understand we’re not the cheapest, and that’s intentional. We set out to source the best matcha possible without additives to alter the taste, without middlemen, and without cutting corners. By working directly with our farm partners and staying honest with our customers, we ensure exceptional quality at a fair and transparent price.
